Radar speed‑sign data is collected using a Doppler radar sensor that measures the change in frequency of radio waves reflected off moving vehicles to determine their speed. The onboard processor filters out non‑vehicle motion, timestamps each detection, and logs information such as vehicle count, speed, and direction. This data is then stored in the sign’s internal memory or uploaded to the cloud, and can be retrieved using various methods depending on the model.

When data is taken from the radar speed sign’s onboard SD card and loaded into the reporting software, it is displayed through a set of automatically generated reports and graphs. The software reads the raw SD‑card data such as dates, vehicle speeds, counts, violations, and daily totals and organises it into tables and visual graphs. These include date‑stamped summaries, daily breakdowns, and key charts that show vehicle counts and speed violations over time. One layout is designed to present the selected reporting date alongside the previous six days, allowing users to compare trends. Other layouts allow detailed daily assessments of vehicle movements.
